Stanza

What a fine weekend! Stayed above a pub, talked amazing rubbish at the poetry breakfast, and read in the poetry cafe, to sell out crowd. Even heard someone trying to swop a ticket for somebody else in order to get in! Saw Brian Johnstone, Kevin Williamson, the bold Rab Wilson, Don Paterson. Should have seen more, but there'll next year. And Scotland won and England got gubbed!

Yay! You even had a hair cut for the occasion!
Reports are you were superb.
Hurry up and achieve mega-literary-circuit stardom so that I can be your roadie.

and
1. What the hell are they doing to your house?
2. If it's rugby, England won the Championship whilst Scotland only missed out on the Wooden Spoon (again) because they've let Italy join in these days. That's Italy, the famous rugby nation.

Hilarious performance, Shug! I got a copy of The Lost Garden at the Market in the Town Hall afterwards.

The sound you hear is applause from across the pond. That second sound? Sneezing in the pollen. ;)

titus- We are building a pub out the back

2. As I said Scotland won and England got gubbed. Totally gubbed. never at the races. Humiliated. Destroyed.

Well, I got talking to the only other teacher in the audience, Claudia (whom I stupidly thought was your sister just because you looked at her when you said your sister was in the audience), and then I saw your signing table surrounded and gathered your book would be sold out. So I headed off to the Market. Sorry not to have talked to you. I'll be back again. I had a whale of a time.

"knidly"....yep, it's pollen season because I read it correctly. :)

The southern world is beautiful to look at right now but the air is...yellow.

Ooh, bad luck to 'a spirited but technically inferior Scotland side in a friendly held at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.'

shug said...

Aye, England's record against Brazil is pretty good as well, eh? (cue Joanne rushing to internet)

Peggy- I'll ave ee, Peggy my lass

Thom- Welcome, sir

Hope- what can I say? Thank you

Don't need to. I already know we beat Wales the day before. Away.
That's enough for me.

shug said...

You're easily pleased. Didn't Switzerland put four past Wales in their last match? And didn't Wales recently get beaten by Lichtenstein and Finland? Not that that should get in the way of Engerland's remorseless self-belief, of course.

(cue JoAnne.....)

You know I'm only feeding you these lines because I want a favour.

And 1966! We must have beat them in '66. You remember '66, don't you, shug?

shug said...

Yes rigged competition, every England game at Wembley, final won courtesy of non-existent goal awarded by blind linesman against half a country.

If you want a favour, you'd better agree with me.

Titus said...

Ha! The scornful sort.

Only take 15 minutes. You in tonight?

shug said...

Aye, after arf 6.
